 DAY 1 FACTS 

On the night of February 3, 2001, Tina Sinclair picked up her

daughter, Bethany from the movie theaters and brought her home.

According to Tina's boyfriend, Eugene Van Bowman, Jr., he and

Tina got into a fight and he left them. He stated that upon his return,

Tina and Bethany were gone.

Tina's car and pet cat were left at home.  An unidentified woman

phoned Bethany's school and said Bethany would not be in on Monday.

Most likely, they did not leave of their own free will. After Tina

and Bethany went missing, Eugene Van Bowman, Jr. was sent to prison for

an unrelated sexual assault conviction (child sex offense).

He was released in April, 2005 to the same home they all lived in

together in West Chesterfield, NH. Eugene Van Bowman, Jr. owns several

properties, including the one where he and Tina lived.  He has been

named a Person of Interest in their disappearances.  At this time,

six (6) years have passed.  The searches taking place now are for their

remains.

Eugene Van Bowman, Jr. has been released from jail this fall 2007, on an unrelated offense, and is residing back in West Chesterfield, NH.
 

Actually, Tina and Bowman had two fights that night. One after Tina dropped Beth off at the movies at around 9:30 or so...according to the bartender at the Marina, when Tina left angry, peeling out of the parking lot in her white Neon, then later when Bethany and Tina came home at around 11:30.

We know that Bethany was on the phone with her boyfriend until almost midnight and had to hang up so she could finish her laundry in the cellar.

We dont know what time POI went to Tina's Step Dad's cabin with a case of beer, but he did tell the stepdad that he and Tina were fighting...again.

Stepdad also says that Tina was angry with POI earlier, when she stopped over to ask her Stepfather to borrow $50 and made plans to cut his hair on Sunday.  The stepfather was turned away when he showed up for his haircut by Bowman.  He was cleaning the house.

The girls were not heard from again after Bethany hung up the phone with her movie date and soon-to-be Valentine. He is still wearing the ring on a chain around his neck that he had planned to give to Bethany for Valentines Day.

The next time any report of activity is known of was at 4:30 am on Feb 4th, when POI was cursed at by his neighbors for being out on the river in his hover craft. It had a loud engine and a very bright light.

'K' (POI's mistress), allegedly, worked for the PI that Sharon Garry (Tina's sister/Bethany's aunt) hired, a month after they vanished, and the PI never told her about his connection with 'K."   It all came out after the LE got involved and Sharon was made to feel like a fool.
 
POI and 'K's' husband were friends and co-workers.  Tina and POI use to go out on couples dates with 'K' and her husband 'MA'. When 'MA's' son 'MT', 19 at the time, was thrown out, he moved in with Tina and POI only a couple of months before Tee and Beth vanished. POI and 'K' were, allegedly, having a fling all along, even after POI gave Tina a diamond on New Years Eve.  'K' and 'MA' have one son together who is now about 16-17 and he was very good friends with Bethany. His name is 'MY.'

****(Archived) PUBLICATION: Union Leader, The (Manchester, NH) DATE: May 12, 2001: "Lewis said her daughter and Bowman had a stormy relationship, and that he often abused her. She described one incident in which Bowman may have tried to light Sinclair on fire. "She came over drenched in kerosene. He poured kerosene all over her!  I told her she should go to the police," Lewis said. "I thought he was dangerous."

...and, also a quoted plea from Tina's sister/Bethany's aunt, "So...Who Else out there was a single, vulnerable mother of a child who the POI, a convicted Child Molestor preyed upon? Please Come Forward Before he Hurts Someone Else. Please Don't Stay Vulnerable to, and in Fear of Him. Please Save Yourself and Your Child. Please Help us put him Where he Belongs!! IN HELL WHERE HE HAS PUT SO MANY OTHERS!"

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS by Family Member (Also, Notations on the Facts)

 The two Yankee Nuclear Power Plant barrels that were allegedly taken from the plant were:

1) allegedly, driven home on POI's truck, by POI

2) had markings VT Nuke Power Plant

3) were black and oval, not like your normal oil barrels.  (One is shown in Photos section, next to wall).

4) And, there were, allegedly, (2) two of them. One is on the property currently (said to be used for ice for parties), the other is missing.

And, yes, the barrel could fit two petite women in one...hypothetically.
 

Q) I read a report in which POI states that after he got into a fight with Tina (the fight at the house), he left and walked over to Tina's stepfather's (and when he returned home, they were gone).  If this is so, did 'MT' go along with him? And if so, could this have been when they arrived with the case of beer to drink? (that would make it after 11:00pm)

A)  This particular time line is sketchy. The POI obviously wanted to make sure Tina's Step-Dad was intoxicated that night. Step-Dad has no recollection of the time that he was there. It could have been after the fight between POI and Tina at the Marina, when he and 'MT' were asked by the Bartender to leave, or it could have been much later that evening when Bethany and Tina returned from the movie pick up.
Where 'MT' was at that point is unclear as well???.  'MT' roomed at the same house with the POI, Tina, and Bethany.
 
Notations:  It was said that our POI went to the stepdads alone.  And, stepdad went into blackout after consuming the beer.  Where 'MT' went after the bar argument nobody seems to know.

I did read he was there, at the house in his bathrobe, when LE came a-calling to search the property, finally.

I believe I only read one, single article that even mentioned his existance in the media?

It is as if he wasn't part of the equation, when in reality he, allegedly, was having a relationship with our POI at the same time as his stepmother, "KT," while living with our POI, Tina, and Bethany.

I know for a fact he was alive and well 1 1/2 years after the disappearance because I found a website for a nuclear submarine reunion, with the dad "KT's exhusband" as a speaker, complete with photogram of he and son "MT." This is after the dad had supposed nervous breakdown, after LE went and questioned him.

Q) You mentioned our Intuitive Friend's inputs on the same interpretations coming in threes.

A) That reminds me of our intuitive friend's notations about a TRIANGLE.........having 3-sides, 3-points, enclosing an area.

The notes conclude that an area chosen by our intuitive friend encloses a triangle:

The base of the mountain
Brattleboro (where Tina grew up)
Rt. 63 Hinsdale (where the park is)
POI's property in West Chesterfield (where Tee and Beth lived).

  
COMMENTS BY SHARON (Tina's sister/Bethany's aunt):

Tina always kept diaries and journals where she stored poems and sayings that she liked, and cards and letters from loved ones. She stored them in her hope chest which LE now has, but they said there was nothing but blankets in it. She kept her childhood dolls, photo albums, baby books and momentos in it.  Bethany, according to my daughter, kept a dream journal by her bed and wrote in it almost every morning. 
 
 NOTATIONS:  THE SEARCHES WERE EXECUTED USING LUMINOL, SONAR, DIGGING UP WELLS AND SEPTIC SYSTEMS AND CEMENT FLOORS IN THE CELLAR AND I BELIEVE THE GARAGE. THE POLICE DID ASK PERMISSION TO SEARCH THE PROPERTY THAT POI SOLD SHORTLY BEFORE THE GIRLS VANISHED.
THE DOCUMENTS ARE STILL SEALED TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE INVESTIGATION AND POTENTIAL WITNESSES.

THE POLICE DID REMOVE SEVERAL ITEMS FROM THE HOUSE, OF WHICH FOR THE MOST PART WE HAVE NO IDEA. WE KNOW THEY HAVE SOME ITEMS THAT WERE OF VALUE TO TINA AND BETH, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD VERY LITTLE ABOUT WHAT THOSE ITEMS ARE.

MY MOTHER HAS ALL OF THE CONTENTS OF TINA'S CAR, WHICH WAS RETURNED TO CHRYSLER CREDIT CORP AS A REPO.

THE POI's TRUCK WAS NOT TESTED, ALLEGEDLY.

Digging took place in spring or summer. 

Dogs were also used. 

They did get permission but I dont know how extensive the other properties were searched. I had a pretty heated conversation with investigators over that concrete floor in the wood shed. Who puts a concrete floor in a wood shed?
I wanted them to dig up all the concrete floors...dont know how many they did.
But yeah...they dug his house up pretty good.

As far as the sealed search records, I agree that they need to be kept sealed as otherwise, defense has more time and a better chance of building a case to defend him.

Also, if there are more details waiting to come out or potential witnesses, they need to be protected.

Q) When did 'MT' move into the house? How long had Tina and POI been together long before this happened?

A) I DONT KNOW WHEN 'MT' MOVED IN, I JUST KNOW HE WAS LIVING THERE WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND AFTERWARD, EVEN MONTHS LATER AS HE WAS THERE IN A ROBE THE DAY THEY SHOWED UP FOR THE FIRST SEARCH WARRANT.

Q) The night of the incident, did Tina stop by her stepdad's before or after she dropped off Bethany at the movies (to borrow cash)?

A) TINA STOPPED BY THE STEP DAD'S BEFORE SHE TOOK BETHANY TO THE MOVIES. SHE ALSO PROMISED TO CUT HIS HAIR ON SUNDAY.

Q) When it was mentioned that the stepfather witnessed POI bleaching and cleaning the house (also having a bonfire), was that the week following the girls' disappearance (Sunday, the 11th)?

A) THE BONFIRE WAS SUNDAY THE 4TH. THE CLEANING WAS AFTER THE FIRST VISIT BY LOCAL POLICE, AROUND THE 7TH.

Q) Is it known if POI (or anyone else) used Tina's car in the three months between Feb. and April? I would think yes? It doesn't make sense that he would continue to make payments on the car if he knew she wasn't coming back for it. Why would he do that? It wouldn't make him look any less innocent or guilty to just have it repo'ed (with no payments made).

A) NO, I HAVE NEVER ASKED THAT QUESTION, HOWEVER, THE NEIGHBORS DID SAY HE WAS ALWAYS RACING UP AND DOWN THE WINDING DIRT/SNOW/ICE COVERED ROAD IN HIS DODGE RAM PICKUP, DESPITE THAT HIS LICENSE HAD BEEN REVOKED FOR D.U.I.

Q) It was mentioned that POI had a job working concrete. How long has he had that job, and did he ever do that kind of work (or general construction) before that time?

HE HAD TWO GENERAL CONSTRUCTION JOBS WHEN HE FIRST GOT OUT OF JAIL IN SPRING 2002, BUT WAS NOT PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE COUNTY BECAUSE OF HIS PAROLE, SO THEY LET HIM GO. IT IS NOT KNOWN AT THIS TIME HOW LONG HE HAS BEEN AT HIS CURRENT JOB, A CONCRETE MANUFACTURER IN KEENE, NH.

Q) When were the two VT Nuke Plant barrels taken from the plant?

A) HE WAS SUSPENDED IN THE FALL OF 2000. IT HAS BEEN ALLEGED THAT ITEMS WERE TAKEN AROUND THAT TIME.

Q) What did the POI and Tina fight about at the marina?

POI HAD BEEN CLAIMING TOTAL INNOCENCE AND A SET UP BECAUSE HE'D CUT HIS DAUGHTERS OFF FROM CHILD SUPPORT AND ANY MONEY AT ALL AFTER THEY TURNED EIGHTEEN. HE SAID THATS WHY THEY WERE BRINGING SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGES AGAINST HIM, AND THAT THEY WOULD SUE HIM FOR MONEY IN CIVIL COURT, (BUT THEY NEVER DID.) TINA BELIEVED HIM AND CAME TO HIS DEFENSE WITH HER FAMILY AND THEIR FRIENDS AND EVENTUALLY SECLUDED HERSELF WITH HIM BECAUSE SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DID BELIEVE HIM. AT SOME POINT AN EX GIRLFRIEND OF the POI's. Another woman (MK) CAME FORWARD AND ALLEGED THAT HE HAD RAPED HER DAUGHTER AFTER GETTING HER DRUNK ONE NIGHT WHEN SHE WAS 14, SO A THIRD CHARGE WAS FILED. A LETTER CAME IN THE MAIL THAT DAY CONCERNING the POI's GUILTY PLEA. I DONT KNOW WHAT THE LETTER SAID, I DONT KNOW IF TINA CONFRONTED HIM ABOUT CONCERNS FAMILY MEMBERS HAD RAISED WITH BETHANY, BUT HIS STORIES WERE CRUMBLING AROUND HIM AND HE WAS ABOUT TO FRY.
 
Q) Do you know the date of the first actual search?

APRIL 9TH WAS THE FIRST SEARCH OF HIS HOME. HE WENT TO JAIL ON APRIL 13TH. ON A TWO-TO-FIFTEEN YEAR SENTENCE AFTER TWO OF HIS VICTIMS DIDN'T TESTIFY. ONE BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO DRUNK TO REMEMBER DETAILS, INADMISSABLE. THE OTHER BECAUSE SHE HAD JUST GIVEN BIRTH TO HER FIRST CHILD AND COULDN'T HANDLE THE STRESS.
 
THE MORE I READ THESE ARTCLES, THE MORE I AM SEEING THAT I NEVER DID BEFORE. IN THE LIST OF PEOPLE INTERVIEWED, THE POLICE TALK ABOUT TWO WOMEN WHO WERE QUESTIONED WHO HAD EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIRS WITH the POI.
IN SOME OF THE ARTICLES, EARLY ON, the POI, HIMSELF, WAS INTERVIEWED.
 
Q) Do you have records of the river search and sonic equipment results?

A) NO

NOTATION:  RT 5, goes thru NH, Vernon, VT and right into Bernardston, Gill and Greenfield MA, Springfield MA and then CT Enfield.

That was the alleged drug route to MA and CT (police).

There was a seedy bar, the 'H' where he did business and Tina and he had fights in cuz she hated him going there and doing what he did. Also there was a strip club along that route that LE said he frequented...not sure where...
 
Q) How easy would it be for him to take back roads thru NH onto Rt 5?

(dark, rarely traveled) and pick up 'K' in Vernon, then off to MA and even CT Still?
 
Q) What evidence did the police find at POI's?

NEVER FULLY DISCLOSED. AN ENGAGEMENT RING, HER HOPE CHEST, EMPTIED OF THE ORIGINAL CONTENTS, BAGS AND BOXES OF CLOTHES...
 
Q) Did LE search any of his other 3 properties?

YES (there were 5)

What was Tina's favorite place to go, locally?

THE MARINA, STEAK OUT, AND PANDA NORTH
 
What was Bethany's favorite place to go, locally?

BETH WAS A RECLUSE MOSTLY...MOVIES MAYBE, OR JUST A FRIEND'S HOUSE

Robert E. Booth
Served with the FBI for twenty nine years.

He is a former member of the Army's elite Special Forces. He has an expertise in anti-terrorism, security, and intelligence gathering and information analysis. He taught at the United States Army School of the Americas located in the Panama Canal Zone. He was the first American selected to attend the Brazilian Jungle Warfare Center on the Amazon River. He was assigned to the FBI New York, Newark, Philadelphia and San Juan Field Divisions. Mr. Booth is proficient in the Spanish language. His duties with the FBI include investigation of bombing and terrorism matters. He has taught at the FBI National Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He has also been involved in preparing plans regarding school safety and security.

Thomas P. Shamshak, Sr.
A retired law enforcement professional who served as
the Police Chief of two municipalities during
a twenty-one year career.

Mr. Shamshak is a former police academy director and police trainer. He has taught a variety of recruit, in-service, supervisory, management and executive training programs. He is a police management consultant, and has testified in federal court as a police practices expert. He has served as an Adjunct Lecturer and has taught a variety of criminal justice college classes. He currently serves as the Program Director and Lead Instructor for Boston University's Professional Investigator Certificate Program. Mr. Shamshak has been a private investigator for six years, and has acquired experience in the investigation of unsolved missing persons and cold case murders. Mr. Shamshak earned a Master of Science degree at the Graduate School of Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, and pursued doctoral studies at Boston College.

A Discussion with a detective,  interested in Missing Persons cases, recently:

Sharon,

I get many requests to help, but I like your aggressiveness and enthusiasm.
Is Bowman out of jail?
Where is Eugene Bowman now?
 
Bowman has a profile on the sex offender website.
He is a nuke chemist who used to work for the VT Nuke Plant in Vernon just accross the CT River from his home on Mountain Road in West Chesterfield, NH. The river divides VT and NH. He is still living in that home where he also owns cabins along the river that he rents. In addition he is a retired Navy Seal.

The major problem, of course, as you know Sharon is that there is no evidence to link Bowman with Tina or Bethany.
 
On the contrary, there is plenty linking Bowman to the girls. They lived with him for four years before they vanished, he was violent, abusive and controlling by the account of friends, co-workers, friends, family and even medical records and local (mayberry USA law enforcement). He has similar history in previous relationships including raping the young teen daughters of his adult female victims. His daughter was one of the victims who put him away for two years after Tina and Beth dissappeared. He and Tina fought over that very thing that night, we believe because he was pleading guilty after working very hard to convince everyone he was innocent. Tina got something in the mail from the court that day. We still dont know what it was.

In saying that however, should you stop the search? Definitely not.

It's been a long time now, should you wind it down and let the police handle the rest? Definitely not.

Are you interfering with law enforcement? Definitely not.

In saying that, you should be aware that the police are ultimately responsible and have the authority to arrest, obtain search warrants, subpoenas, etc. Consequently, it behooves you to remain in good working terms with law enforcement.

It took LE over 2 mos to obtain and execute the first of many search warrants. They impounded her car which was left behind, his vehicles and his boat and hovercraft.

By the time they executed that search warrant I had already alienated LE with tantrums and press releases and by hiring a PI who turned out to be an employer of Bowmans lover, 'K'.

How did he transport your sister and Bethany to get rid of them?
In their car or his vehicle?
I would imagine, both vehicles were checked for DNA, blood, hair, etc.
Was the house checked for evidence of foul play?

They dug up his cellar floors and garage with jackhammers, took computers and furniture and personal belongings and used dogs and sonar around the properties and in the river.
We had several community searches as well.

Did Bowman retain an attorney immediately?

Yes, He's been through two so far as he fired a couple.

Did he make any kind of statement?

Initially to the local LE, but plead the fifth after that.

Where do you live?

I live an hour and 20mins away in CT

Where did you live at the time?

Been here for 8 years

Any physical marks on Bowman?

I believe local LE said he had a scratch on his left arm. Local LE is W Chesterfield Chief 'LF.' We have become friends but I worry about corruption because he was never arrested even though there was local knowledge of drug and gun running and in all the times the police went to the house when there had obviously been fights between he and Tina.

Any prior history of domestic/ sexual abuse with either Tina or Bethany?
Besides Bowman?

Yes. She rarely had a relationship that wasn't a mess.

Did any of Bowman's previous relations come forward with any comments?
Were they interviewed?

Yes a couple of them after I contacted them. They gave statements to me about Bowman threatening to kill them, talking about where he would put them, etc. What they told LE, I do not know.

Did Bowman buy any tape, bags, shovel, etc before or after your sister went missing?

Cement mixers, Cement...put in floors and a hot tub in at least three locations. He loved to have big fires and burn things, made a trip to the dump and had a fire the next day.

Did anyone observe Bowman after the disappearance?

I did.

Did he volunteer to help in the search?

No but his parents showed up twice while he was in jail.

Did he ever go search with others?

no

Did he go search by himself?

no

What is his prior criminal history?

Drugs, guns, past murder suspect, child molester, sexual deviant.
They socialized publicly alot. There are many accounts of public fights, affairs on his part and Tina left him many times. Once when he poured kerosene on her and chased her around the yard. The police were called and nothing happened.
 
In the last year, I was suspicious that he had molested my niece and I launched a child services investigation which eventually drove Tina and I apart. His so called best friend was a coworker named 'MA'.  'MA' had a son about 19, 'MT', who was living with them when the girls vanished and the police told me Bowman was involved with sexually.  'MA' had a wife, 'K', 34 who Bowman was having an affair with. 'MA' and Bowman were fired for fighting at the nuke plant in November 00. There is also a teenaged son to 'K' and 'MA', 'MY', 12. I know exactly where they all are. 'K' and Bowman were engaged the last time I knew.
